Top 5 Tuesday – 26 October: Top 5 creepy covers

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, but now it is hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads.

I love book covers and I feel like there isn’t enough recognition for those who design them.

Top 5 creepy covers

Misery by Stephen King

Misery was the first book I read by Stephen King. I ordered it second hand off eBay and this was the cover that turned up! I almost couldn’t read it as the woman’s face scares me so much.

We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver

One of the creepiest books I’ve read and the staring face of Kevin on the cover is no exception!

American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis

Another book that was really disconcerting. It wasn’t an enjoyable reading experience but it was certainly fascinating. The single smudge of blood on this cover is creepy. Where has it come from?

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess

That screaming face is horrifying. No thanks.

Another book I can’t say I particularly enjoyed reading, but intriguing with a powerful message nonetheless.

A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay

Those vines wrapping around the crucifix. The colour green. It was indeed a creepy book with a creepy cover to match!

Which books do you think have the creepiest covers?

  1. Oh wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that cover for Misery before. And it confirms that I never want to read a Stephen King book. EVER!! I hope you didn’t get too creeped out this week 👻
