Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 Series

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, but now it is hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads.

Welcome back to another Top 5 Tuesday! I really enjoy this meme and it makes me think a bit more about books and I’m the sort of person who love to categorise and make lists!

Last week, I looked at retellings and this time I’m going to be talking about my favourite series! I have to say, I read more stand alone books that I do series, but there are definitely a few which are coming to mind straight away!

Top 5 Series

Will Trent GBI Series

I really like Karin Slaughter and she is an auto-buy author for me. I’ve read books 1, 2, 3 and 8 (whoops) in the series and I’ve got the rest of them at home to work through. The series features Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent Will Trent as he solves murder in Atlanta. I love the main characters of Will, Faith and Sara.

His Dark Materials

This trilogy for me is one of the best I’ve ever read. I recently re-listened to it on my commute and there were parts which broke my heart and had me crying in my car even though I knew they were coming!

Harry Hole

I like crime novels and series. They are some of my go-to books. Harry Hole is a detective in Norway, although some books take place outside the country. He’s an addict. He’s a maverick. But he is the best. Every book keeps me on my toes. I’ve read books 1-4 and have most others at home to read in order.

The Millennium Trilogy

It was these books that peaked my interest in crime fiction. I remember reading the first one from the uni library as I’d heard so much about it and I raced through the trilogy. I haven’t read any of the other books written by different authors after Larsson’s death and I can’t decide if I want to. I’m definitely feeling like a re-read!

A Song of Ice and Fire

There’s only one word I can use to describe ASOIAF: epic. I have fond memories of this series as I read them on the beach during my summer work on the island of Belle-Ile-En-Mer on my year abroad for my degree. I was absolutely hooked. I enjoyed the TV series but the last couple seasons were a let down. Like many people, very impatiently awaiting the final two books – who knows if that will ever happen?!

Have you read any of these series and really enjoyed them? What’s your favourite? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Oooh!! Have you ever read the Private series by James Patterson? I know he writes a lot of crime, but this is the only series of his where I have read past number 10 voluntarily!! Hope you had fun this week 💕
