WWW Wednesday – 9th December

It’s that time of the week again – WWW Wednesday! In the last week there was been a little bit of progress in my reading. I’ve managed to tick a few things off my list, but like most readers, my TBR never seems to go down! Should I go on a book buying ban in 2021… nah! I’m not strong enough!

Here’s a reminder about what this post is all about.

The 3 Ws

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

Unfollow and Ghosts – updates from last week

I’ve read a little bit more of Unfollow but not loads. As I mentioned last week, this autobiography is my next book club pick. We are meeting between Christmas and New Year so I’ve still got plenty of time! I’ve almost finished Ghosts! I’ve only got 25 minutes left in the audiobook so will easily finish that tonight in bed or tomorrow on my way to work. I’m thinking of spotlighting audiobooks on my blog as I listen to them so much. I don’t read a lot of romance, but I’m enjoying Ghosts very much – it’s funny, sincere, heart breaking and uplifting all at the same time.

The Stand by Stephen King

Why, oh why am I reading a 1000+ page book?! Because it’s a classic. I borrowed it from my father-in-law and he’s asked how I’m getting on so thought I’d better start it! I’m about 50 pages in and so far I’m really looking forward to all the drama, horror and thrills that will ensue. The sheer size of the book makes it a bit daunting so I’m imagining this will be on my WWW Wednesday for a few weeks. Will I finish it by the new year? That’s a challenge!

Recently Read

The Visitors by Miranda Rijks

I finished this ARC which is published this month as part of the Damp Pebbles Blog Tour. From the cover, I imagined this book might be full of horror and gore, but it really wasn’t. I’m not sure if I’m disappointed in that or not. The blurb said the couple staying in the holiday cottage had a sinister secret, but I definitely felt it was a bit more typical psychological thriller and not particularly scary. I did enjoy it though and raced through it in less than 24 hours. My review will be up on the 15th December.

Next Reads

Like last week, I’m waiting for my next audiobook, Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez to come available from the library in the next couple days. I enjoy non fiction about feminist issues so I’m looking forward to it! I’m going to try to not start another book until I finish Unfollow and The Stand (unless it’s an audiobook as they are a different format) but I do have some reviews coming up in January and February so I’ll have to get on to them soon.

And that’s it for another week! What are your recent, current and next reads?

TTFN!
